How It Works
The Hot Tub Moving Process, Step by Step
From your quote request through circuit checks, mover matching, and reconnect planning, here is how a hot tub move actually happens when it is arranged honestly.
Four Steps From Quote to Working Spa
You Request a Quote
Fill out the five-question quiz about your tub, the route, and the two addresses. We ask about the make and model, whether the side yard is gated, if there are steps, and where the circuit disconnect is. If you are moving in winter, we ask about the freeze risk. The full quiz takes under a minute.
We Review & Assess
A person reads your request and works out whether it is a dolly move, a crane lift, or a removal. We check what the new house still needs before the tub can arrive: Is the circuit ready? Is the pad level and strong enough? Is there a clear path, or does a fence panel need to open? We come back with questions if we need to, and there is no obligation in finding out.
Local Mover Match
We connect you with a licensed, insured local spa mover who knows your town and the work. The mover is matched by property address, so the business that prices your job is local to where the tub sits now. They price the job themselves based on the route, the tub size, and the carry distance. We do not mark up their quote.
Coordinate & Move
The mover schedules the drain, the carry, and the delivery. If you need an electrician to connect the circuit at the new house, we help coordinate the timing so the electrician and the mover do not have to wait on each other. The tub is drained and blown out at this end, moved on a spa dolly or crane, and set on the new pad. The electrician connects the circuit if there is one, and you refill.
What Makes This Process Different
We Are Not the Mover
Hot Tub Movers is an arranger, not a moving company. That means we do not own trucks, we do not have a crew, and we do not send you a quote with our name on it and then subcontract the work to someone else at a markup.
The mover you talk to is the business that does the work. They are licensed and insured for spa moving in your state. They price the job themselves. Our fee comes from the service coordination, asking the right questions, checking what the new spot needs, and matching you with a local mover who knows the job.
We Check What the New House Needs
A hot tub is not a couch. It cannot just be dropped on the ground. The new spot needs a level base that can carry the tub when it is full, a concrete pad, a reinforced deck, or compacted gravel. A hard-wired 240V spa circuit is work for a licensed electrician, not an extra the mover throws in. National Electrical Code section 680.13 says the disconnect has to be at least 5 feet from the tub and within sight of it. That is the electrician's job, not the mover's.
We ask if the circuit is ready, if the pad is there, and if the route is clear. If something is missing, we tell you before anyone quotes, so the price you get is for the job as it really is.
The Mover Prices It, Not Us
Other lead-gen sites show you a low number to get your contact info, then the "moving company" that calls is a dispatcher with no truck who marks up a local mover's quote by 30 to 50%. We do not do that. The mover sees the route, measures the carry distance, and prices the job honestly. We are paid for the coordination, not for inflating the quote.
We Say When You Need Less
If a fence panel opens a route and there is no crane to pay for, we say so. If the side yard is wide enough for a dolly and you do not need a street crane, we say so. If the tub stays with the house and nothing needs moving at all, we tell you that too. Our job is to plan the move correctly, not to upsell you into a crane you do not need.
No Fake Trucks
We do not use stock photos of crews and trucks that are not ours. We do not pretend to be the mover. We are an arranger, and we say it up front. The business card the mover leaves is theirs, not ours.
If anything about your experience with us is not right, call us and we will make it right. Read the guarantee terms.
Different Moves, Different Plans
House to House
You are moving to a new house and the tub comes with you. The mover drains and blows out the tub at this end, dollies it to the truck, and delivers it to the new yard. The new house needs the circuit and pad ready before the tub arrives. If the circuit is not done, the tub sits empty on the pad until the electrician finishes.
Crane Lift
The side yard is too narrow for a dolly, or there is a fence in the way with no gate. A small crane lifts the tub over the obstacle from the street. The mover still drains and reconnects at each end. The crane is just the tool for the carry. Crane access depends on street width, overhead wires, and HOA rules.
Removal & Disposal
The tub stays with the house and you do not want it. The mover disconnects it (or coordinates with an electrician if the seller wants the circuit left safe), drains and tips it onto a dolly, and hauls it away. Some tubs can be resold if the shell and equipment are good. Others go to a landfill that takes fiberglass.
How Long Does It Take?
After you send the quote request, we usually come back to you within a few hours during business hours, or the next business day if you send it at night. If we need to ask follow-up questions about the route or the new house, that adds a day.
Once we match you with a local mover, they will call or email to schedule a site visit if the route is complex, or to confirm the job details and give you a price. The move date depends on their schedule and yours. If you have a closing or move-out date, mention it in the quiz. It changes the order things have to happen in.
Winter moves in freeze-risk areas take more planning. The tub has to be blown out completely so no water is left in the plumbing to freeze. The mover might need a shop-vac and an air compressor, and the move has to happen on a day when the temperature is above freezing long enough to drain and blow out safely.
Nobody can promise a moving date before the route has been seen. If the mover needs a crane and has to get HOA approval or a street-use permit, that can add a week or more. We help coordinate those steps, but the timing is not instant.
